On the shores of Wisdom Lake in the Guanyin Square of Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden, there stands a colossal bronze bell with a beautiful name: the "Harmony Bell." It hails from a place steeped in Zen tranquility: the Hanshan Temple in Jiangsu, China.
The Hanshan Temple in Jiangsu, China and the Cham Shan Temple in Canada are friendly sister temples. The Cham Shan Temple has received significant support from the Chinese Buddhist community in its efforts to establish the Four Great Sacred Buddhist Gardens in Canada. In January 2013, Venerable Master Sing Hung, then ninety years old, and Venerable Dayi were invited to the Hanshan Temple in Suzhou to participate in the donation ceremony for the "Harmony Bell." Both parties signed an intention letter for the donation of the "Harmony Bell." Now, two additional three-ton "Harmony Bronze Bells" have been donated by Venerable Qiushuang of Hanshan Temple in Suzhou.
The "Harmony Bell" from Hanshan Temple symbolizes the resonance of Hanshan Temple's chimes reaching North America, once again manifesting the timeless sentiment of "Night Mooring by Maple Bridge." With the support of various Buddhist communities worldwide, it is believed that the Four Great Sacred Buddhist Gardens in Canada will continue to carry forward the compassionate spirit of Buddhism and disseminate traditional Chinese culture in North America.
