Now let’s take a look at Exhibit No. 11. The eleventh display showcases twelve statues from the three main traditions, namely Theravada, Mahayana, and Vajrayana. A Theravadin statue of Shakyamuni Buddha shows him with a topknot, and a lotus flower blooming on the crown of his head. His topknot is wrapped in pearls that form a helix, and he wears a kasaya robe with his right shoulder exposed. He sits on a three-legged pedestal, which represents the Threefold Training of Buddhism (ethical conduct, meditation, and wisdom).
There is also a statue of Bodhisattva Manjushri from Vajrayana standing upright, with his upper body exposed. The top of his head has a transformation Buddha. He has stretched earlobes and wears a pearl necklace. Utpala flowers surround both sides of his body. He wields the sword of wisdom and carries the collection of Prajñāpāramitā Sutras. His hands form the Teaching Mudra. There are also statues of the Bodhisattva Guanyin from Mahayana — riding a dragon, holding an infant, and bearing a thousand arms.
