Samantabhadra Bodhisattva
普賢菩薩
Emei Shan is the shrine of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, the Bodhisattva of Great Practice.
Samantabhadra Bodhisattva personifies the transcendental practices and vows of the Buddhas. He is usually depicted seated on an elephant with six tusks (representing six paramitas)
Samantabhadra Bodhisattva made ten great vows in his path to full Buddhahood:
- To pay homage and respect to all Buddhas.
- To praise the Thus Come One-Tathagata.
- To make abundant offerings. (i.e. give generously)
- To repent misdeeds and evilkarmas.
- To rejoice in others' merits and virtues.
- To request the Buddhas to continue teaching.
- To request the Buddhas to remain in the world.
- To follow the teachings of the Buddhas at all times.
- To accommodate and benefit all living beings.
- To transfer all merits and virtues to benefit all beings.
峨眉山是大行普賢菩薩的道場。
普賢菩薩,是具足無量行願、普現於一切佛剎的大乘聖者,與文殊菩薩為釋迦牟尼佛之脅士。即文殊駕獅子侍如來之左側,普賢乘白象侍右側。若以此二脅士表法,文殊師利顯智、慧、證,普賢顯理、定、行,共詮本尊如來理智、定慧、行證之完備圓滿。

三者:廣修供養
四者:懺悔業障
五者:隨喜功德
六者:請轉法輪
七者:請佛住世
八者:常隨佛學
九者:恆順眾生
十者:普皆迴向
