Declaration for the Grand Opening of Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden in Canada
加國五台山開園啟告書
On the 30th day of December 2023, Ven. Dayi Shi, a humble monastic from Cham Shan Temple, prostrate in reverence before the Buddhas, extending this declaration to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the Ten Directions:
For the past forty years, I have devotedly propagated Buddhism, carrying forward the profound legacy of the Tathagata. My very existence has been dedicated to the dissemination of Dharma. Serving as the Abbot for two decades in Canada, I have dutifully upheld the aspirations of my esteemed mentors. I have nurtured the land and pioneered the construction of the Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden in Canada. As the inaugural era draws to a close, the initial phase of the Buddhist Garden's construction is now successfully accomplished. I hereby proclaim to the Ten Directions, to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and to the celestial deities safeguarding the Dharma: Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden in Canada has been established and is now open!
Since the dissemination of Buddhism to Canada from the East, our three founders have dedicated fifty years to pioneering this path. Over the span of half a century, the teachings of the Tiantai Sect have gradually taken root in the West. With the blessings of the Triple Gems and the protection of celestial deities, we, leading the assembly of Sangha and lay practitioners, embark on the establishment of the Buddhist Gardens in Canada. This symbolic journey commences at Wutai Shan.
The merits of developing the Buddhist Gardens are as vast as the ocean, while the challenges are as intense as the abyss. We have persevered through numerous struggles, including the trials of the fiery hall, remaining resolute in our commitment. Now, we proudly announce the completion of the first phase of Wutai Shan Buddhist Garden's development, aiming to benefit sentient beings from all walks of life.
May the Buddha's teachings thrive, fostering global peace, prosperity for humanity, and the well-being of all. May the sacred teachings resonate widely, touching an immeasurable multitude. May all sentient beings be liberated from suffering, live in bliss, and attain enlightenment collectively. Our sincere aspiration is that those practicing at the Four Buddhist Gardens in Canada live in tranquility and ease, observing the continuous turning of the Dharma wheel, ensuring the everlasting transmission of teachings for generations to come.
Proclaiming this declaration in a posture of humble reverence,
Ven. Dayi Shi
